Cities Have a Soul
A city is a physical place that brings people together in close proximity.
In a sense, a city has a soul - comprised of the people who live, work, play, and dream in the city. I think the soul of a city is so important to what makes a city great.
For example, NYC has a soul - the soul of endless opportunities, of dreams, “If you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere” type of energy.
Now, why can’t that be replicated on the internet? If websites and apps like Facebook, instagram, etc. were meant to bring us closer together, why has it not achieved that goal? That’s because they are not physical.
When we meet people in person, we connect on a deeper emotional level. Not to say that you can’t do that over FaceTime, but in person is always the best way - because we see people with our own eyes, we can see their body language in real time.
Cities are more important than ever - let us invest in making them the best they can be for everyone.
